As the 2025 year ends, this will be a short review of the year and an outline of what’s coming up for 2026.
2025 saw a slightly quieter year, mainly focusing on The Kart Championship with the move from the Primo class to ‘full juniors’, with a switch of number from 59 to 259. We cut the championship short by not taking part in the final round at Whilton Mill, however, we have learned a lot this year, had a lot of ups and downs, tried new tracks of PFI and Shennington. We’ve had heartbreak too, particularly at Glan-y-Gors with the small hole in the nosecone along with a snapped axel and a chronic handling issue which resulted in a new frame. The championship wasn’t all bad, Riley finished 28th out of 79 registered for the championship.
It’s been another fantastic year working with Joe Weaver Racing in partnership with Ambition Motorsport.
As well as the new tracks on The Kart Championship calendar, we also made a maiden visit to Lydd Kart Circuit for a test day which was a great day out.
End of year thank you’s must go in no particular order to:
- JT at Force Motorsport – for rebuilding the engine at the start of the year, and helping us on track when we’ve needed it
- Paul at Ambition Motorsport – for supporting Riley over the years, from the first time we had a very wet cadet test session all those years ago to now racing at national level
- Paul & Joe at JWR – for helping, supporting and developing Riley and myself over the last 18 months or so
- All the family – for supporting Riley both at the tracks and from home, or supplying tyres on occasion.
2026 Plans
2026 will see a few changes for us. First of all, due to the requirement for a new barrel on the engine there isn’t much point in doing a new barrel for 12 months before having to switch it again to accommodate a power valve … that’s right for 2026 Riley will be sporting blue numbers and making the move to the Senior class, a more powerful engine! It makes more financial sense to switch the barrel once.
2026 will not only see a change to number colours, but the colour of the kart. After working with Joe Weaver Racing for the last 18 months or so, Riley will officially be switching teams from Ambition Motorsport to JWR. Thank you to Paul at Ambition for the help and support over the years.
The final change for 2026 will be tackling a new championship in the form of Super One. Whilst we have been happy with The Kart Championship, and the recent introduction of the Senior class means we could do it, the 2026 calendar is missing one of our favourite tracks, so with a calendar that features tracks we enjoy, we will try the Super One series.
