On Tuesday 26th July, we took a visit to Team Karting in Rochdale to take part in the X-Kart Academy. This is a morning of learning. The course was hosted by the very talented Ashley Gregory. It had a very good split between classroom based learning and track time to put the learning in to practice.
The day was full of very useful content that you don’t usually get to practice when on a test day. During the course, we studied racing lines, looked at starts, covered driving techniques and over taking. The classroom wasn’t everything and we had great fun practicing with games.
Through the day, I was able to set my PB on the track. I also got some great feedback from Ashley and Danny who runs Team Karting in Rochdale. It was also nice to be 3rd/4th fastest throughout the day with the only people quicker being ones who are there twice a week.
Without giving up the content of the course, we found a lot of value in it and would recommend it to anyone able to attend Team Karting in Rochdale. I am looking forward to making use of what I’ve learned at Rye House IKR Round 6 in a couple of weeks.
